Arc de Triomphe in Paris, pen and ink sketch

About this artwork

The great stone arch stands alone at the end of the avenue, its carved panels and deep shadowed doorways drawn with confident black outlines. Grey wash fills the stone faces and sky, while the shrubs at the base are left as loose scribbles to give the monument weight.
